Tory Macdonald – Person Centred Counsellor
MY PERSONAL VIEW
Maintaining a healthy mind, as well as body, enhances harmony and wellbeing and gives us the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.
I was educated at schools in Sussex and Oxfordshire, and went on to study at colleges in Henley and Oxford.
Following many years of working in London, I embarked on my first Counselling course in September 2004 and knew immediately that Counselling was what I wanted to do. After completing my initial training at Orpington College in Kent. I moved to Eastbourne and continued my Counselling studies at Sussex Downs College, finishing in August 2006. In December 2009 I became a qualified Samaritan.
I work as a Counsellor in Eastbourne at The Natural Fitness Centre and at Willingdon Community School. I also see clients in London.

ABOUT ME AND MY PRACTICE
Listening to You follows the principles of Carl Rogers’ Person-Centred counselling. By providing a comfortable, non-judgemental environment and by demonstrating congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard, the person seeking help will be guided towards finding their own solutions to their problems.
Counselling can help with a wide range of issues, including: Depression; Bereavement & Grief; Marriage Guidance & Relationship issues; Teenage problems – Bullying, self-harming, exam stress; Conception & Fertility problems; Financial difficulties; Work-related problems; Health issues – eating disorders, addiction, long-term illness; Family problems; Sexuality – Gay/Lesbian related issues; Loss of confidence & self-esteem.
“Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. The friends who listen to us are the ones we move toward. When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand” – Karl Menninger (Psychiatrist)
“Thank you Tory for helping me to come to terms with a difficult incident in my life. You provide a safe space and time to explore ways to think about things, and I value our sessions enormously. I would recommend your style of counselling to anyone” – Jane
“Counselling helped me to deal with my troubled life past and present and has enabled me to have a brighter future. Without it I would not be the happy and confident person I am today. Thanks for listening and for the tissues!” – JM
“Tory Macdonald (Listening to You) was perfect for myself and my husband. An experience and person we would happily engage in and with again. We were made to feel very welcome and very comfortable, which are two key things when embarking on counselling I think? especially for the first time. Tory helped us over many hurdles and we still reflect on the input she provided us with today. What’s really special is that she still occasionally checks in with us to see how we are. Thank you Tory.” – SB
